The 20-year-old man charged in the shooting of two police officers in Ferguson last week is telling authorities the cops were not his intended targets.

In fact, Jeffrey Williams has acknowledged he fired the shots, according to St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch, but has insisted that his aim was an individual at the protest who robbed him, CBS reports.

During a brief jail visit on Sunday, Williams told Bishop Derrick Robinson that he “fired into the air.”

“He said a particular protester tried to rob him and that was the reason he shot,” Robinson said.

Police are investigating Williams’ claim. Meanwhile, activists are challenging statements McCulloch made during a Sunday press conference that align Williams with protesters demonstrating against police brutality in recent months. McCulloch said the young man was at the protest before the shooting — a statement that supported the…

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) – With lawmakers split along party lines, a Senate education committee Monday approved a controversial bill that would allow people with concealed-weapons licenses to carry guns on the campuses of state colleges and universities.

The Senate Higher Education Committee voted 6-3 to approve the bill (SB 176), which has drawn opposition from many university leaders but has the backing of the politically powerful National Rifle Association.

Sen. Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, pointed to a lack of evidence that crimes, suicides or tragedies increase on campuses in states where concealed weapons are allowed.

“In the absence of evidence, one is left then with the Constitution of the United States, and I’m in favor of all 10 of those amendments,” Gaetz said, alluding to the Second Amendment.

But Senate Minority Leader Arthenia Joyner, D-Tampa, said she doesn’t think the bill is responsible, saying young adults are…

K. Michelle’s got a heck of a sense of humor. After spending 2014 with many ups and downs in her personal life, K decided to make a video on Instagram poking fun at all the men that did her dirty. Set to Boyz II Men’s version of the tearjerker, “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday,” K takes a stroll down memory lane to the men she dated in 2014, including NBA’s, Lance Stephenson, NFL player Chris Johnson, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte (Dang, forgot all about him!) and of course sexy the British import, actor Idris Elba.

K’s revelation her latest album, Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart? is based on her 8-month relationship with Elba still left many gobsmacked (me included), since the actor announced he was having a baby with his girlfriend  Naiyana Garth. During her visit to The Breakfast Club, K revealed while Elba understood her…

The American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri filed the lawsuit Monday in federal court on behalf of the grand juror, referred to only as “Grand Juror Doe.” The suit takes issue with McCulloch’s characterization of the case before the grand jury in the death of Michael Brown, 18, who was Black and unarmed when he was shot six times by Wilson, 28, who is White. The Aug. 9th shooting ignited fiery and ongoing protests across the nation, exposing America’s ruptured race relations.

On its face, the grand juror’s suit underscores the protest movement’s rallying cry about…
