K. Michelle’s got a heck of a sense of humor. After spending 2014 with many ups and downs in her personal life, K decided to make a video on Instagram poking fun at all the men that did her dirty. Set to Boyz II Men’s version of the tearjerker, “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday,” K takes a stroll down memory lane to the men she dated in 2014, including NBA’s, Lance Stephenson, NFL player Chris Johnson, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte (Dang, forgot all about him!) and of course sexy the British import, actor Idris Elba.
K’s revelation her latest album, Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart? is based on her 8-month relationship with Elba still left many gobsmacked (me included), since the actor announced he was having a baby with his girlfriend Naiyana Garth. During her visit to The Breakfast Club, K revealed while Elba understood her…

A grand juror is suing St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch (pictured) for allegedly mischaracterizing Ferguson, Mo., police officer Darren Wilson’s case before the panel, according to a report at St. Louis Public Radio.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri filed the lawsuit Monday in federal court on behalf of the grand juror, referred to only as “Grand Juror Doe.” The suit takes issue with McCulloch’s characterization of the case before the grand jury in the death of Michael Brown, 18, who was Black and unarmed when he was shot six times by Wilson, 28, who is White. The Aug. 9th shooting ignited fiery and ongoing protests across the nation, exposing America’s ruptured race relations.
On its face, the grand juror’s suit underscores the protest movement’s rallying cry about…

When it comes to issues concerning race in America, the country isn’t only divided racially, but politically as well. A new poll released by Washington Post-ABC News illustrated how divided the nation is when it comes to race, the criminal justice system and police brutality. According to the report only 1 in 10 African Americans believe that blacks and other minorities receive fair treatment with whites in the criminal justice system. 2 in 10 African Americans say that they are confident that police officials treat both blacks and whites equally. 6 in 10 white Americans believe that police treat both blacks and whites equally, and nearly half of white Americans say that the justice system treats all races fairly. When factoring in political parties, 2 in 3 white Republicans believe that the criminal justice system treats African Americans and whites equally, and only 3 in 10 white Democrats concur with…

Does the recent ‘torture report’ on CIA ‘enhanced interrogation methods’ leave US citizens vulnerable to prosecution by the International Criminal Court (ICC)? That was the question I was asked to answer in my latest article for the Washington Post’s Monkey Cage, originally posted here.
Dec. 9 saw the much anticipated release of the U.S. Senate’s “torture report,” outlining in harrowing and tragic detail the CIA’s program of “enhanced interrogation techniques” in its “global war on terror.” On Dec. 2, the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court also released a report in which it made clear that it was inching closer to opening an official investigation into crimes in Afghanistan – including U.S. interrogation techniques. These developments could very well expose U.S. officials to formal investigation – and potentially prosecution – by the ICC. But is the court truly prepared to…

A baby-faced Derek Jeter looks out from his 1993 Topps Stadium Club rookie card.
I hate the New York Yankees with a passion usually reserved for Crusades. Three times in the glory days that were the 1990s, the hated Bronx Bombers dashed the World Series hopes of my beloved Atlanta Braves. I suppose I inherited my hatred of all things pinstriped from Papa Wham. I’m not sure Papa “hated” anything, but he did express a stern dislike for the Yanks.
Having said all of that, I do admire the game of baseball to a fault and when a player is worthy of making baseball history, I like to acknowledge a life well lived and a career worth remembering. With that in mind, I bid a nostalgic farewell to New York Yankee shortstop and Captain, Derek Jeter.
Jeter took his last at-bat today at Fenway Park in Boston and hit a…
